impatient was founded in 2013 by Mark Watson and Lianne Coop, and the name reflects our desire to produce high-quality work without waiting so long that we die before it eventually comes to fruition. We aim to be prolific, creative and adventurous: we are passionate about our projects and will go to all possible lengths to make other people passionate about them.
One of the first performer-led independents to venture into live promotion, we represent the famously broad artistic spectrum of Mark Watson and a select number of other people with genuine originality. We do all this because we have a combined forty three years’ experience in TV, radio and live touring – much of it as hands-on as you can get, i.e. making shows and doing tours; we’ve learned a lot about the good and bad ways things are done, and we are (if you will) impatient to put those lessons into action. Also because we enjoy it.
impatient have been successfully producing critically-acclaimed comedy as an indie for the last 10 years – we have produced live tours for a roster of some of the best talent in the UK, including Mark Watson, Ruby Wax, Reverend Richard Coles, Julia Masli, Viggo Venn, Shaparak Khorsandi, Gary Delaney, Zoe Lyons, Justin Moorhouse, Daliso Chaponda, Jonny & The Baptists, Josie Long, John-Luke Roberts, Alison Spittle, Shelf, Olaf Falafel, Hal Cruttenden, Sofie Hagen and Laura Lexx. They produce an impressive roster of talent every year at the Edinburgh festival and have taken shows internationally to New York, LA, Washington DC, Berlin, Montreal and Melbourne festivals.
In addition to our live touring work we also produce various original scripted comedy series for BBC Radio 4, including multiple series of Mark's own long-running show Mark Watson Talks A Bit About Life; Elephant In The Room with Sarah Millican; Passport Paddy with Zoe Lyons, recorded on location in Ireland; Angela Barnes' You Can't Take It With You; Josie Long’s What Now?; Jen Brister’s Waves; Mike Bubbins’ Retrosexual; Aurie Styla’s Tech Talk; The Price of Happiness with Kate Fox and Coaches, a sitcom pilot starring Sara Pascoe and Paapa Esseidu. This is in addition to productions in the podcast world: The Andy Field Experience (Radio 1 Kench); Mark Watson's Comedy Marathon - a 13-part original podcast series for Audible with over 40 contributors; WTB with Jen Brister, menkind with Mark Watson and Michael Chakraverty, Sticky Bun Boys with David Atherton and Michael Chakraverty and Altered Fates with Abla El-Sharnouby all released independently on Acast.
impatient's team is headed by Lianne, who boasts 20 years experience of radio production (in-house BBC Radio Comedy for 10 years) – with expertise both in staging live recordings and editing. Mark has been a successful stand-up and writer for even longer, and exec produces and script edits across Impatient projects. They are aided by a strong and experienced squad of live and audio experts Siren Turner, Maddy Bye, Alex Preston and Laoise Holohan. More about the team here.
